Yazzy Ares
Computational Linguist · English Teacher · Researcher

I hold a Master's degree in English Language and Linguistics from the University of Freiburg, Germany, and a second Master's in Educational Technology, along with certifications in English language teaching from Cambridge and the University of Arizona.

My work sits at the intersection of linguistics, language acquisition, and artificial intelligence, which means the work we do together is grounded in research, not just intuition.

I have been teaching English for over 20 years, working with students, coordinating academic programs, and training teachers at Mexican universities.

In 2021 I created this online platform and have since worked with students from different parts of the world.

I stay current with developments in artificial intelligence and educational technology through continuous training at institutions such as IT Madrid, UNAM, and Microsoft, because language science keeps evolving — and so should teaching.

What I do

English for Professionals
I work with adults who need English to advance in their careers. Sessions are designed around your specific goals and a detailed analysis of your learning process — not a generic program.

Research & Thesis Advisory
I support students and researchers in academic writing, research methodology, and the use of specialized software for linguistic analysis such as PRAAT and ELAN, drawing on my experience at the Linguistics Laboratory of the University of Freiburg.

Computational Linguistics Consultancy
My expertise lies in natural language processing and generation (NLP/NLG), artificial intelligence, and prompt engineering for the development and training of virtual assistants. I have experience in projects for international companies in Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States, across industries including automotive voice technology, consumer virtual assistants, stock market platforms, and financial services such as banking and debt collection.

My Professional Growth & Evolution

Teaching, researching, and consulting don't happen in isolation. I genuinely believe that the best learning happens alongside others. Collaborating with peers across different contexts and cultures has broadened my understanding of what it means to learn and teach in community.

I have presented research at national and international conferences, with publications in areas such as pronunciation teaching with technology, functional approaches to grammar instruction, and TOEFL analysis. I also produced a series of video tutorials for the official YouTube channel of the Linguistics Laboratory at the University of Freiburg, covering specialized software for linguistic research.

I continue to expand my expertise through formal training at institutions such as IT Madrid, where I completed a course in Instructional Design with AI, Microsoft, where I studied Generative AI Fundamentals, and UNAM, where I am currently studying German.

Collaboration with International Teachers

I have collaborated with English teachers from around the world on projects such as New English Voices and was part of Hadar Shemesh's English Teacher Academy, one of the most recognized references in English language teaching internationally.

Creation of Real Spaces for Meaningful Learning

I collaborated with Dr. Rebecca Ogden of the University of Manchester on a tandem learning project connecting her students with mine, an experience that reinforced the value of real communicative contexts in language learning.

Science Communication

I appeared as a guest on Hadar Shemesh's podcast and contributed video content to her YouTube channel, where we explored what computational linguistics can teach us about language learning.

Let's Work Together

Whether you're a professional looking to strengthen your English, a researcher needing academic support, or a company seeking computational linguistics expertise, I'd love to hear about your project.
